Traces of a great history around the Rössl
The tiny town of Montechiaro in Val Venosta is not too far from Glorenza, a charming medieval town with its ancient walls still in excellent condition. Nearby are Sluderno, Prato, and Malles.
Montechiaro is located in a sunny position and its guests are bewitched by the surrounding landscape and the precious ruins of the medieval castle.
Make sure to visit
Castel Coira in Sluderno, with its collection of medieval weapons, one of the most important in Europe.

Well – being in Summer
The place is in the middle of the country and so it’s perfect for bike rides and hiking. We also have a
Driving Range and Putting Green for golf lovers.
There’s a special track for mountain-bikers all surrounded by fruit trees which takes them straight to Merano (
Via Claudia Augusta), famous health resort: 47 km to get there and on the way back you can take
“the Val Venosta train” and admire the surroundings all the way to Malles.
Lake Resia,
symbol of Val Venosta with its bell tower sunken in it and
the Ortles (3.905 m), the highest mountain in Alto Adige which stands out impressively make an overwhelming setting in which you can enjoy your outings.
Stelvio National Park with its glacier gives you the chance to ski in winter as well as in summer: it’s European skiers’ favourite!

When the Rössl is snowbound…
Winter in the Weisses Rössl Hotel – spend the holiday season with Vinschger traditions in a stylish Christmas and New Year’s setting with a comforting atmosphere. The “Glurnser Christmas Market” in the smallest alpine village (just 3 km from the Rössl) is held on the second Advent weekend before an impressive medieval backdrop (city wall, defence towers and arcades). St. Nicholas Eve on December 5 marks the start of the annual Glurnser advent with traditional “Aufschellen” and St. Nicholas procession.
Snow is guaranteed on the ski slopes and glaciers into May. The nearby Rössl ski areas are ideal for beginners and of course also for skiing experts. After a full day of skiing and winter sports, the Rössl team spoils its guests with a romantic evening by candlelight around a warm tiled stove and invites you to the cosy Rösslbar by the crackling fireplace…
